After a sharp surge, it plunged—organic silicon oil byproducts' prices have been on a roller-coaster ride.

Industry insiders reveal that shipments of methyl and trimethyl silicones are currently sluggish, driving prices to steadily decline. As a result, since May, both siloxanes and silazanes have begun showing downward trends—siloxane prices have plummeted from over 110,000 yuan per ton in April 2018 to the current level of more than 60,000 yuan per ton, while trimethyl silicones have dropped from over 70,000 yuan to below 30,000 yuan. In just a few months, prices have nearly halved. Meanwhile, byproducts of organosilicon products have seen price hikes that were truly unexpected—and now, those who suffered the most are traders who previously stocked up at higher prices.
Silicone ethers and silazanes have experienced "wild price swings," with fluctuations resembling a roller coaster—though they haven’t exactly hit rock bottom. Currently, the industry is in its off-season, and while prices for organic silicon DMC, silicone oils, and 107-grade adhesive remain firm, trading activity remains sluggish, creating a situation where supply exists but demand is virtually absent. Meanwhile, organic silicon by-products, which previously saw excessively sharp price increases, are now facing declining demand amid persistently high temperatures that make storage particularly challenging. As a result, it’s only natural for these products to be sold at reduced prices. Looking ahead, organic silicon by-products are expected to continue trending downward in the near term.
